November 01 (Wednesday)

ANIKET BHAGWAT (Landscape Architect)
Aniket Bhagwat is a third generation landscape architect practising in Ahmedabad with m/s Prabhakar B Bhagwat, a firm started by his father eight decades ago. Arguably one of the most influential landscape design practices in the country, the firm is known for its research legacy and an unconventional understanding of urban and natural landscapes. Drawing on the depth of his familiarity with the specialisation since childhood, Aniket is known to be an outspoken and stimulating writer, thinker and an academician.

DEEPAK KANNAL (Sculptor)
Deepak Kannal is a sculptor and Art historian. He has taught in Fine Arts, M.S. University and has held key positions of H.O.D. and Dean. He has received several national and international awards and has published many books, monographs, plays and edited volumes.

ANUJ PODDAR (Sculptor)
Anuj Poddar is a great in Fine Arts with two decades of work experience in sculpture. He is visiting faculty & a jury member in various colleges across India.

VED GUPTA (Sculptor)
Ved Gupta is winner of numerous honours including H.K Kejriwal award and Kashi award for Visual Art (2007). His work has been featured in many exhibitions and he was featured among the five Indian artists to showcase their works under the 'Best of Discovery' section at the Shanghai Contemporary show.

SHRUTEE PISALKAR (Academic)
Shrutee Pisalkar is M.A in Art History and Aesthetics and M.A in literature. She is also a classical dancer with Visharad degree in Kathak. She was curator of a show on performance art and currently working in Endeavor Management Training Institute as verbal faculty.

AJAY KANWAL (Sculptor)
Ajay Kanwal has Masters degree in Ceramic sculpture from the faculty of Fine Arts M.S.U, 2004. He Has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Sculpture Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.U since 2006. Also, an artist in residence program for 4 weeks at De Montfort University, Leicester, England, UK.

PROF. PERCY PITHAWALA (Architect)
Prof. Percy Pithawala is an academic and a Professional with over 20 years of experience in undergraduate and post graduate Architecture and design studies. He completed his undergraduate studies in Architecture at M. S. University, Baroda and subsequently pursued a Masters in Urban Design from Pratt Institute, New York. He has been associated as a Designer with several Nationally and Internationally recognized firms such as Ar. Uttam Jain, Ar. Karan Grover and Associates, Ar. James Stewart Polshek, Ar.ZahaHadid and Ar. Richard Mier.

He was the Principal of A.P.I.E.D at VallabhVidyanagar. He has been a Professor at the School of Environmental Design and Architecture, Navrachana University since its inception. He offers consultancy on several master planning projects for special Economic zones, participates in Design Competitions and also publishes in Architectural and Design journals.
Prof.Pithawala is also a passionate artist whose works have been displayed in several national and International shows, including some at Prestigious galleries such as Van Allen, Pratt, Cooper Union, Studio X. He is a much respected design mind, teacher and critic.

DR. SHISHIR R. RAVAL (Architect)
With about 20 years of varied academicexperiences in the USA, Dr. Shishir R. Raval is currently a Professor of Architecture at the M. S. University. Academically and professionally, spanning over three continents and over 30 years, Dr. Raval is passionately involved with the fields of landscape architecture and ecological planning, with focus on participatory design and natural resource restoration and management.He has been actively involved at various levels and forums with the issues and actions related to protection and holisticrevival of Vishwamitri River watershed since 1998.

DR. RANJITSINH DEVKAR (Researcher)
Dr. Ranjitsinh Devkar is a researcher and faculty member at the Zoology Department at the M. S. University. Passionate about wildlife conversation and nature education, he teaches avian and wildlife biology, has received national and international grants for research projects, and published research papers. He has also guided several dissertation projects on varied aspect of wildlife biology. He finds micrchiropteran bats fascinating for study.

DR. DEEPA GAVALI (Acting Director, GES)
Dr. Deepa Gavali is the Acting Director of the Gujarat Ecology Society and is a member of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management. She has undertaken studies pertaining to the ecology of various river systems in Gujarat including Vishwamitri, Mini, Mahi, Sabarmati, Kim and Kolak. She has more than 50 publications to her credit.

MS. NEHA SARWATE (Architect)
Ms. Neha Sarwate is an Architect and Environmental and Urban Planner. She has worked in both, private and public sectors in the USA, notably in the Department of City Planning, City of Pittsburgh. She has contributed in redefining planning policies and practices at various levels. Upon her return to India, she has been involved in the Academic sector of the profession, with the focus on integrating environmental factors with the built and unbuilt environment. She has also worked with the VMC on their various efforts towards the betterment of the city.

DR. JITENDRA GAVALI (Director, CSC)
Dr. Jitendra Gavali is the Director of Community Science Center, Vadodara, where has been actively involved with science education and awareness since 2008, especially for conservation of biodiversity and environment. He is one of the key leaders of Sunday morning Nature Walk (Watch) in Vadodara city and has been well-recognized for his contribution in this field. His work on "Environmental Pollution Research and Biodiversity Conservation" is a very important contribution to the society and has been recognized by International Leadership Visitor's Program (IVLP) 2013 by the Department of State of the USA.He is currently engaged with Mission Million Trees of VMC, Tree Park for Gujarat State, and Vaho Vishwamitri Abhiyan for holistic river revival.

AR. GIRISH DOSHI (Architect)
Girish Doshi leads the firm Navkar Architects, based in Pune. After his graduation he worked with eminent architect BalkrishnaDoshi for seven years. He started his own studio Navkar in 1987 with strong belief that architecture is not a simple manipulation of forms, but is about construction of space and place. Light plays a decisive role in his design. To him authentic material, pure geometry and nature are the essentials that make architecture. He passionately believes aesthetic truth of ideas will in some measure contribute toward dignifying human existence.

AR. JAYANT DHARAP (Landscape Architect)
A landscape architect and sculptor with over 24 years of experience, Jayant Dharap is the founder and principal of 'Forethought Design Consultants' based in Pune, India. Dharap has worked on residential, commercial and environmental project and also enjoys doing environmental sculptures. He has won many awards for his professional work including the JIIA Award for Landscape Design ( The Meadows Resort ,Aurangabad), the AESA BeharayRathi Award (Clover Hills Club House, Pune) and the AESA Industrial Category Award (Bilcare Research Center, Pune).
